Bomb attacks in Iraq

Suicide bombings at a military base and a police station killed 13 members of the Iraqi security forces north of Baghdad on Tuesday, officials said.

In the deadlier of the attacks, two bombers struck: one blew himself up at the gate of the army facility in Tarmiyah town, and then the second set off his explosive belt among a crowd of soldiers who gathered after the earlier blast, police said.

The explosions killed nine soldiers and wounded another 24 people. Tarmiyah, a Sunni town and former insurgent stronghold, is about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Baghdad. (AP)
