Calling for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to resign are critics seated from left to right, attorney Chad Snow, Randy Parraz, co-founder of Maricopa Citizens for Safety and Accountability, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors member Mary Rose Wilcox, and local activist Salvador Reza, during a news conference at the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors chambers Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Phoenix. Critics gathered and called for the resignation of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio while asking the U.S. Attorney's Office to place the sheriff's office into receivership. Arpaio's opponents are critical of nearly $100 million in misspent funds by his agency over eight years and a recent internal investigation that found mismanagement by his top commanders. less
