The Republic of Korea Coast Guard on April 28 released footage of the captain of the Sewol ferry leaving the ship as it sank off the southwest coast. More than 400 people were on the ferry, most of them high school students, when it got into difficulty close the the island of Jindo, capsizing several hours later. Captain Lee Jun-seok was criticised in the media and by families of the victims and missing for abandoning the vessel.
