Chelsea Proctor, 18, of Wetumka, Okla., comforts a horse Monday morning, Nov. 1, 2010, at a truck stop in Salina, Kan. The Salina Journal reports Monday that at least one horse was euthanized Monday morning and three others had fallen in a trailer that was being pulled to Oklahoma from Colorado. The horses were among 15 that had been used for hunting expeditions in Colorado. John Caldwell, 23, of Wetumka, Okla., who was driving the truck, told the Salina Journal he was helping out a friend whose truck transmission was out and could not name the owner of the horses. This horse, who had a number of scars and an area on its back where its hide had been rubbed clean, was subsequently euthanized. less
