New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie knew about the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge when it happened last year, a former official of the agency that oversees the bridge alleged Friday. Christie contended that the accusation proved he played no part in the discussions leading up the closing. In the letter to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey a lawyer for David Wildstein — the Port Authority official who actually ordered the event — says there is evidence "tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the Governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference." less
