Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov was charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly kicking and stomping his girlfriend at the couple's Denver condominium last month, prosecutors said. The Russian-born Varlamov, the starting goalie for the National Hockey League franchise, was charged with one count of third-degree assault, according to Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney's office. Varlamov, 25, surrendered to police after the woman reported that she had been kicked in the chest, stomped and dragged by the hair inside the couple's downtown Denver residence on October 28. less
