According to federal government investigations, Dallas police officer J. D. Tippit was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald at this spot after Tippit stopped Oswald for questioning shortly after the shooting of President Kennedy. A current photo (R) shows the same spot on November 8, 2013. The City of Dallas will hold commemoration ceremonies on November 22, 2013 marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
