The dark stone urn with the ashes of Poland’s pianist and composer Wojciech Kilar placed in front of the altar during the composer’s state funeral at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice, Poland, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. Mourners, including Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski, hailed Kilar, a symphonic composer, as a glorious figure in Polish and European music.
