Daryl Swiggs, port engineer for the 839-foot long North Star cargo and freight ship, stands in the ship's high-voltage control room, Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at the Port of Tacoma in Tacoma, Wash. The ship is one of two vessels operated by Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Inc. that have been modified to use shore-based power while docked at the Port, which officials say will reduce pollution by allowing TOTE's ships to turn off their engines while in port. less
