Diane Carter, left, sits with her grandmother, Flossie Carter as they celebrate her 111th birthday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Heritage Place skilled nursing facility where she has lived for over 12 years in Pittsburgh , on Thursday, June 2, 2011. According to UPMC, Carter, who was born in Birmingham, Al., worked for the Works Project Administration, the government program that helped to provide jobs after the Great Depression. She moved to Pittsburgh as an adult to help raise her grandchildren while her children went to work. She now has more than 60 descendants. less
