Divers from South Korea’s Coast Guard searched the area around the sunken Sewol ferry on April 19 as hopes faded that any of the almost 300 people still unaccounted for had survived. The ship sank off the southwest coast on April 16. Most of those on board were students on a high school trip, heading for the popular island of Jeju.
