Dark Matter fans, Killjoys fans, can't we all just get along? We're going to have to, or we're going to have to settle this ONCE AND FOR ALL because Syfy has renewed both shows for second seasons. Syfy's two newest series were both modest hits for the network, with Killjoys averaging 1.5 million viewers in Live+3 data (i.e. overnight numbers and the next three days of on-demand and streaming viewers) and Dark Matter averaging 1.8 million viewers, according to the network. Dark Matter will return for a 13-episode season in 2016, while Killjoys will be back for 10 episodes. In Killjoys, a team of bounty hunters traverses space to catch bad guys and take on space missions, and in Dark Matter, the crew of a derelict spaceship wakes up with no recollection of who they are or how they got there. They also take on space missions. Lots of space missions on Syfy shows these days. But what I find interesting is the unusual rift that's developed between fans of the shows. Yes, there are some out there who enjoy both series, but half of the comments in my Dark Matter reviews were about how Killjoys was better. It's not common for Syfy to debut two new shows at the same time, but that's what happened here and that's probably the source of the fight. Well, that and Syfy fans are totally crazy in the best way. Which show are you more excited about getting a second season? You guys know me, #TeamDarkMatter! less
