This NOAA satellite image taken Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 12:45 PM EDT shows a large cluster of thunderstorms firing up over the Tennessee Valley just ahead of a shortwave mid-level trough coupled with lower level moisture. This moisture is flowing northward from the Gulf of Mexico due to a significant ridge that is edging into the Gulf Coast. More thunderstorms are also developing over New England along with a complex low pressure system that is moving in a northeastward fashion. (Weather Underground via AP)
