In this Feb. 11, 2013 photo, art complements science on this settlement pond in Seattle's Northgate neighborhood. Sediment ponds slow the flow of storm water, allowing particles and pollutants to settle out. The accumulations are removed every five years or so by Seattle Public Utilities crews, leaving cleaner and clearer water to flow downstream. (AP Photo/Dean Fosdick) less
