In this Feb. 22, 2011 photograph, a herd of wild elephants stand in a water body inside Kaziranga National Park in Kaziranga, some 240 kilometers (150 miles) from Gauhati, India. Representatives of the eight countries - Botswana, Congo, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Thailand - where elephants roam freely are meeting in New Delhi to secure a future for the animal increasingly under threat. Mining and land development are threatening elephants' habitats as does ivory poaching, resulting in increased conflict between humans and the beasts. less
