In this Feb. 4, 2011 photo, women hold the hand of a newborn child at the Mohan Lal Gautam District Women's Hospital in Aligarh, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The hospital's three staff doctors race through seeing some 500 patients a day needing help with childbirth, pelvic inflammatory diseases, abortions and other treatments at subsidized costs. The infant mortality rate in Uttar Pradesh, one of India's poorest states, is 96 of every 1,000 which makes it one of the worst places on earth to be born. less
