LONDON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 08: (FILE PHOTO) Bristol born Damien Hirst first came to the public's attention back in 1988 when he curated Freeze, an exhibition in a disused London Port Authority administrative block which showed his work along with the work of his friends and fellow classmates at Goldsmiths College. In the time since that that important show, Hirst has become one of the most influential artists of our time and his generation. The retrospective of his work at the Tate Modern which opens on 4 April will be the first substantial survey of his work in a British institution and will bring together some of his key works. The two day sale will feature 223 pieces of Damien Hirst's work - some of it new and is estimated to realise more that £65 million. (Photo by Peter Macdiarmid/Getty Images) less
