FILE - In this Jan. 3, 1977, file photo, recruits in the Phalange Party militia go through training procedures at the Christina Militia Security Garrison, in Beirut, Lebanon. The Lebanese civil war itself played out in several stages between 1975 and 1990. Over that time, Christians fought Palestinians, Lebanese Sunni and Shiite Muslims and Druse.
