FILE - In this March 29, 1989, file photo, flames and thick black smoke raise up from burning fuel tanks which were attacked by the shelling of the Syrian army, in Dora area, east Beirut, Lebanon. The Lebanese civil war itself played out in several stages between 1975 and 1990. Over that time, Christians fought Palestinians, Lebanese Sunni and Shiite Muslims and Druse.
