Spain's beleaguered bullfighting world has welcomed a government decision to transfer oversight of the centuries-old tradition from the Interior Ministry to the Culture Ministry. Bullfighting advocate Luis Corrales said Thursday Oct. 14, 2010, the move recognizes bullfighting as a cultural event and is a step toward greater protection.Bullfighting has been under fire following its banning because of cruelty to animals in the powerful northeastern region of Catalonia in July. less
