FILE - In this Nov. 2, 2010, file photo, Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. is seen in Phoenix. House Republicans overwhelmingly backed a bill to slash spending and raise the nation's debt ceiling. The exception was House Republicans with their sights set on the Senate. Arizona's Jeff Flake, Utah's Jason Chaffetz and Montana's Denny Rehberg bucked the leadership and voted against the measure. It was a politically smart vote as polls show more Americans disapprove of the deal than like it, with opposition high among the tea partyers who hold considerable sway in the 2012 GOP primaries.
