First anniversary of the Euromaidan Revolution in Kiev

On November 21, 2013 activists started an anti-government picket after then-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov announced the suspension of a landmark treaty with the European Union. The protests eventually led to the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovych, creating political rifts through the country that erupted into violent conflict between seperatists and government forces in the eastern part of the country in the spring.
