Flickr: Turkish police, protestors clash in Taksim Square

Flickr user Eser Karadağ photographed these scenes near Istanbul's Taksim Square, where protestors have clashed with police over a few days. The protests escalated on Tuesday evening when police lobbed tear gas and shot water cannons at protestors, who responded with fireworks and Molotov cocktails. The protests stem from environmental demonstrations against the proposed building of a mall near the square.
