A massive leak from a Duke Energy waste pond in February coated a stretch of the Dan River from Virginia to North Carolina with sludge containing chemicals known to cause cancer. Now a federal grand jury will begin hearing evidence on whether North Carolina regulators looked the other way when toxic coal ash leaked from Duke Energy plants. Mark Strassmann reports. less
