GULF OF MEXICO - JUNE 25: (FILE PHOTO) The Transocean Discoverer Enterprise drillship burns off gas collected at the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill on June 25, 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana. It was reported that National Incident Commander of the Unified Command for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico Retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen announced that the leaking BP oil well is effectively plugged and and poses no further threat to the Gulf. The announcement comes five months after an explosion sank a drilling rig and led to the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images) less
