Haunting images of abandoned mental asylum

These are the chilling images of an abandoned mental asylum renowned for its abuse of patients. The Forest Haven mental asylum closed in 1991 but still contains the likes of treatment tables, luggage and personal belongings of patients.

Some of the abuse said to have occurred at the asylum includes electroshock therapy, hydrotherapy and lobotomies. The asylum, in Laurel, Md., faced a number of lawsuits before closing and is one of the top 10 most haunted locations in the State. (Caters News)
