Heena Tariq, taking an online accounting course through the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, is seen at the Afghan-Canadian Community Centre in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on May 21, 2011. The center, a professional-development school, teaches business management, computer technology and English, as well as leadership and job-oriented skills. It exists because the women's thirst for learning and self-sufficiency outweighs their fears; because of Canadian largesse; and because of the energetic idealism of its founder, Ehsanullah Ehsan. less
