John Lennon's "last autograph" sold for $72,000. Gotta Have It! Collectibles, Inc. states an engineer at The Record Plant studio asked for an autograph for his friend on Dec. 8, 1980. He mistakenly thought it was for someone who replaced a broken guitar string, writing: "To Karl, who strung me along, thanks John Lennon 1980." He was later shot in front of The Dakota apartment building
