The Humane Society of the United States assisted the Rutherford County, NC Sheriff's Office in the rescue of 52 dogs from a suspected puppy mill operation on June 12, 2014. Dogs ranging from Yorkies and Shitzu breeds to Cocker Spaniels and English bulldogs were found on three different properties in poor condition. Assisted by the Humane Society of Charlotte, The HSUS removed the dogs, and provided them with necessary medical attention.
