YOGYAKARTA, INDONESIA - AUGUST 31: Volunteers of Kraton Palace or called 'Abdi Dalem' guard the 'Gunungan Lanang' before invaded by locals during Grebeg Syawal ceremony on August 31, 2011 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Grebeg Syawal is a tradition that follows the holy month of Ramadan and welcomes Eid, the breaking of the fast. The tradition involves an offering of vegetables, peppers, eggs, and other items, called 'Gunungan Lanang' that are brought to the Grand Mosque and invaded by locals. Receiving part of the Gunungan is believed to be good luck and be a blessing for the year ahead. (Photo by Ulet Ifansasti/Getty Images) less
