Inusual nevada en Sudáfrica
La gente se aventuró el martes a pasear por las calles pese a las bajas temperaturas para observar la primera nevada en más de un siglo en esta nación meridional africana. Comenzó a nevar el martes por la mañana, parte de una ola de frío que barre el país en este invierno austral. La nieve obligó a cerrar algunas carreteras y por lo menos un desfiladero de montaña situado a gran altura. La nevada arreció por la tarde en Johannesburgo, donde cubrió tejados y carreteras. Es muy inusual que nieve en esta ciudad, incluso en invierno. El Servicio Meteorológico de Sudáfrica indicó que sólo ha nevado allí en 22 días de los últimos 103 años; la última vez que ocurrió fue en junio del 2007. (AP)
