Wall Street awoke to a global meltdown on Monday after the People's Bank of China in effect told participants in the Chinese banking system that they would be left to their own devices in handling an apparent liquidity crisis. Vodaphone is offering to aqcuire Kabel Deutschland, Germany's biggest cable operator. The Vodaphone Group made the giant bid of $10 billion for the German company. At least 75 percent of Kabel Deutschland shareholders must accept Vodafone?s offer for the deal to go ahead. Fasten your seatbelts. And expect lots of turbulence. If that was the message Ben Bernanke was trying to deliver when he said the Federal Reserve could soon start scaling back its massive stimulus program for the U.S. economy, it's safe to say investors received it loud and clear. less
