In this March 27, 2011 photo, a bright-yellow boat aptly named "Bagong Pag-Asa" or New Hope, is anchored in the shallow waters at the remote village of Layag-layag, Zamboanga city in southern Philippines to be used by school children in going to school. Dozens of dirt-poor children in the mangrove village in Layag-layag no-longer have to swim, while straining to hold their books above water, to get to school after Government employee and blogger Jay Jaboneta learned of their plight and raised money through Facebook to build them at least three boats. Classes in public schools for school year 2011-2012 all over the country opened Monday June 6, 2011. less
