WASHINGTON, DC - AUGUST 22: Master Sculptor Lei Yixin stands at the base of the 30-feet-tall sculpture at the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial the morning it was opened to the public for the first time on the National Mall August 22, 2011 in Washington, DC. Lei Yixin and his team assembled and carved 159 granite blocks to creat the memorial's "Mountain of Despair" and "Stone of Hope," which features the American civil rights pioneer gazing into the horizon. The memorial will be dedicated on August 28, the 48th anniversary of King's historic "I Have A Dream" speech. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images) less
