QUAD CITIES, Iowa and Illinois—Flooding on Rock River in Moline's, Ill., reached a record 16.53 feet on Sunday. (Flood stage is 12 feet.)

East Moline resident Nicole Mikkelson Klinge (with children Emily and Sammy) visited an area on the Rock River immediately across from Moline's South Park Mall Shopping Center at 2500 North Shore Drive.

"This is an area where we usually ride our bikes," she told me.

The spot was once the site of local restaurant Harold's On the Rock. Harold had enough a few years back and packed it in, possibly after the second-worst March 6, 2008, flood that reached 16.38 feet. The area is now a small park and recycling center.
