NAGS HEAD, NC - AUGUST 28: A flag hangs in the rubble of a cottage destroyed by Hurricane Irene August 28, 2011 in Nags Head, North Carolina. The home, built in 1916, was one of the first vacation cottages built on on Albemarle Sound in Nags Head. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the home was completely destroyed after being shoved more than 100 yards by floodwater. Hurricane Irene hit Dare County, which sits along the Outer Banks and includes the vacation towns of Nags Head, Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills, as a category one hurricane around mid-day yesterday causing wind and flood damage before heading up the East Coast.
