    North Korea mourns Kim Jong Il

    North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has died, North Korean state television reported Dec. 19. He was 69. Kim died of heart failure while travelling by train on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. local time, the country's state run news agency reported. NKTV announced his death and endorsed his son and heir apparent Kim Jong Un in a statement released Dec. 19.
