WASHINGTON - SEPTEMBER 21: Richard Etchberger (L) receives a Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry on behalf of his late father, U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Richard L. Etchberger, from President Barack Obama (R) during a East Room ceremony September 21, 2010 at the White House in Washington, DC. President Obama awarded the medal posthumously to Etchberger for his heroic actions during combat in Laos on March 11, 1968 in order to place his three surviving wounded comrades to be airlifted to safety.
