In this Oct. 11, 2013 photograph, items like this poster used by former Fayette, Miss., Mayor Charles Evers, brother of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, during his campaign for governor, will eventually be displayed in the state civil rights museum in Jackson, Miss. Officials say they did not set out to have separate-but-equal museums for the documentation of the state's history, but it could end up that way. Groundbreaking is set for Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 for the Mississippi History Museum and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, side-by-side buildings, that when opened in 2017, may together tell the state's complex history.
