In this Oct. 23, 2012 photo, Hamidullah, who like many Afghans uses only one name, is waiting in the center of Lashkar Gah for a bus to Sangin, Afghanistan, the scene of some of the most violent fighting between the Taliban and British and U.S. forces. Hamidullah predicts that "all these foreign soldiers are here and it is totally insecure everywhere in Helmand. For the time that they (international forces) are in Afghanistan we will always have war.” In southern Helmand province, one of Afghanistan’s deadliest battlefields, angry residents say 11 years of war has brought them widespread insecurity. Development that was promised hasn’t materialized and the Taliban’s rule is often said to be preferred. (AP Photo/Anja Niedringhaus) less
