This Oct. 23, 2013 photo shows a storage room at the Central Hospital in Maracay,Venezuela. Legions of ailing Venezuelans are being neglected by a national health care system that doctors say is now collapsing after months of steady deterioration caused by funding shortfalls, numbing inflation and currency controls. Almost everything needed to mend and heal is in critically short supply: the needles, syringes and paraffin used in biopsies to diagnose cancer; the drugs to treat it; operating room equipment; X-ray film and imaging paper; blood and the reagents needed so it can be used for transfusions.
