According to media reports Hamid Mir was severly injured on 19 April 2014 after unknown gunmen fired at his vehicle in Karachi, Pakistan. Pakistan has been the deadliest country in the world for journalists, the Committee to Project Journalists said in one of its reports. At least fifteen journalists were killed in direct relation to their work in the years 2011-12.
