BERLIN, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 21: German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is also Chairwoman of the German Christian Democrats (CDU), speaks to the media at CDU headquarters following the severe CDU Hamburg election defeat the day before on February 21, 2011 in Berlin, Germany. The CDU received only 20.8% of the vote, down from 42.6% in the previous election, which is the worst state election-to-election loss of any German political party's history. The election is a severe setback for Merkel, whose party faces another six German state elections this year. The big winner in the election was the German Social Democrats (SPD), which received 49.8%. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images) less
