Photo of the Day

Associated Press
This photograph provided by the National World War II Museum, shows the piece of shrapnel tore through Rothacker Smith’s shirt and into his shoulder on December 26, 1944 in Sommocolonia, Italy. It was not removed from his shoulder until 1954. The exhibit is just one small reminder of the sacrifice that African-Americans made during World War II.
