In this Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 photo made available by the Turkish Coast Guard, Pelen Hussein, a Syrian migrant, 20, who was trying to reach Greece when the boat he was in capsized, stands on the top of the capsized boat before being rescued by the Turkish Coast Guard Air Command off the waters of Edremit bay in the Aegean Sea, Turkey. Turkey's coast guard said that 27 migrants had died after their boat capsized in the Bay of Edremit while trying to reach the Greek island of Lesbos. The International Organization for Migration says 409 people have died this year trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea, and migrant crossings in the first six weeks of 2016 are running at nearly ten times the rate of the same period last year.(Turkish Coast Guard via AP) less
