Gordon Gnasdoskey, a long-time neighbor of Michael Karkoc, 94, sits on his porch in Minneapolis, Minn., Friday, June 14, 2013. Gnasdoskey says he has known Michael Karkoc for many years, and was stunned to learn about the Nazi past of a man he has shared laughs with and known as a churchgoer. Karkoc was a top commander of a Nazi SS-led unit accused of burning villages filled with women and children, lied to American immigration officials to get into the United States and has been living in Minnesota since shortly after World War II, according to evidence uncovered by The Associated Press. less
