Photo of the Day

In this May 31, 2012 photo, Nelida Montoya, mother of Horacio Echave, a soldier who died during the Falklands war between Argentina and Great Britain, holds a picture of her son at her home in Lobos, Argentina. Horacio Echave was only 19 when he died on June 14, 1982, the day Argentines surrendered to British forces and ended their 74-day occupation of the archipelago they still claim as their "Islas Malvinas." His body is one of 123 that could not be identified and were reburied as “unknown” soldiers in the Argentine military cemetery near Darwin, a settlement hours from the capital of Stanley where many soldiers on both sides fell in close combat 30 years ago.
