In this photo taken April 25, 2011, state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, left, talks with Sen. Bill Emerson, R-Redlands, at the Capitol in Sacramento, Calif. Earlier in the month, the Legislature approved Simitian's a measure requiring health facilities performing mammograms to notify patients with dense tissue that they may want to receive additional screenings. The bill is opposed by various medical groups, including the California Medical Association that said there was insufficient evidence to support the idea that additional screenings would detect cancers earlier. The bill is awaiting action by Gov. Jerry Brown, who has not given an opinion on it. (AP Photo/Rich Pedroncelli) less
