This photo taken in Hugo, Colo., on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, shows an abandoned service station on Main Street in downtown Hugo. Hugo, a tiny agricultural outpost on eastern Colorado's high plains, is losing itself to lack of employment. That's a fact mayor Patsie Smith was painfully aware of before the arrival of new U.S. Census data. The 2010 Census shows Hugo lost 17 percent of its population _ 155 people _ over the past decade, and now has just 730 residents. Surrounding Lincoln County shrank by 10.19 percent to just more than 5,000 people. less
