In this photo of Tuesday Aug. 9, 2011 released by the African Union-United Nations Information Support Team, Ugandan soldiers serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia, AMISOM, patrol through the deserted streets of Bakara Market in central Mogadishu. Bakara was up until just a few days ago a strategic stronghold of the Islamist group Al Shabab until their sudden withdrawal from the city overnight Aug. 5. Somalia's government says it is offering amnesty to militants in the capital who renounce violence, two days after the fighters withdrew from most of their bases. In a statement Tuesday the government said al-Shabab's retreat from their bases in the capital over the weekend was a step forward. (AP Photo/ AU-UN IST/ Stuart Price) less
